初めまして。サウジアラビア出身のエマンと申します。

私は、日本に来てから7年になります。
現在はヴィ・クラスニーのハラール（ハラル）化粧品の販売担当をしています。 
子供の時から日本が好きで、色んな意味でカルチャーショックを起こし益々日本のことが大好きになりました。このブログ通し色々な経験談や情報などをたくさんシェアしていきたいと思います。よろしくお願いします！

第一回目の今回は、日本に住んでいるムスリマとして、日本の「ハラール」のおもてなしにとても感動した体験についてお話ししたいと思います。私は、2014年に日本に移住してきました。その時にはまだ「ハラール」と言う言葉自体がそこまで知られていなかったんです。

当初、日本に来てすぐは普通の生活だけでも本当に大変でした。

外国人として日本の文化や食生活に対して、失礼にならないようレストランや飲食店で食材や料理の調整（ハム抜きや豚肉抜きなど）のお願いがしずらかったことを覚えています。シェフに失礼になるんじゃないか？など、本当に悩んでいました。当時一番辛かったことは、ホテルに泊まった時に朝食代を払っていざバイキングに行くと何も食べられるものが無かったことです(笑)
そんな中でも優しく声をかけてくれる日本人の方もたくさんいました。「食べ物、大丈夫ですか？」「豚肉は食べないですよね。代わりに鶏肉で出しますね！」など声をかけてもらうたびに、本当に嬉しすぎて泣きそうになった・・・！とても救われました。感謝しています。

自分が信じている事やライフスタイルは、”他の人たちに絶対に押し付けない”ようお母さんとお父さんから言われてきていて、今でも世界中のそれぞれ異なった文化や信念を尊敬していきたいと心から思っています。

そして、この4年間で日本が変わり始めました・・・！
ハラールマークがファミリーレストランや普通のスーパーにも見受けられるようになりました。私は、更に日本人の考え方や価値観に対しての尊敬の気持ちが強くなりました。
差別をせず、全ての人に選択と選択肢を与えているということが本当に素晴らしいと思ったのです。

 オリンピックが決まってから、ハラールマークがついている物や食品が一気に増えたことを覚えています。ホテルに泊まる時にはホテル周辺にハラールフレンドリーのショップやレストランのパンフレットが貰えるようになりました。本当に驚いた・・・！そして、一気に生活が便利になりました。
私は、日本語が理解でき日本語での会話がで来たのでそこまで不便ではなかったけど、日本語が話せず理解が出来ないムスリムの観光客のみんなのことを考えると、本当に大変だったと思います。
ほとんどのイスラム教徒の観光客はハラールを期待せずに日本にやって来ます。それは決して日本人の知識を軽視しているのではなく、その国の文化を尊重し、私たちの信念を要求したり押し付けたりするべきではないと考えているからです。日本文化を愛し、尊敬しているからという理由で日本に旅行に行くことを選ぶイスラム教徒の人々がたくさん居るんです。

ですから、私たちが愛する日本が、ハラール製品を提供する必要がなくも十分なのに、それでも更にハラール対応を提供することと、イスラム教徒の人々に対して寄り添ってくれる心、そしてそのおもてなしを見ていると、私は人生の学習の場として日本を選んだことを心から誇りに思います。
そんな時に「ハラール化粧品」というものを初めて見かけました。中東の人にとっては、とても珍しい光景でした。
最初は「何でハラールマークが化粧品で必要なの？」と正直思いました。そして、ムスリムではない日本人の友達から「ハラールマークが付いていない化粧品は使ってはいけないの？」と聞かれました。私にとっては考えてもいなかった質問でした。
イスラムの教えでは、「許されている」という意味のアラビア語がハラール（ハラル​）【アラビア語: حلال Halāl 】です。
私にとって「ハラール」は食だけに関わる言葉だと思っていました。
化粧品に対しての考え方にハラールが繋がっていなかったんです・・・。
でも、ハラール化粧品を見てからというもの考え方がガラリと変わり始めました。
化粧品の成分も、肌から血流に吸収されていきますよね。食べ物と同じ考え方ができると思いました。
世界中には、ハラール成分を本当に気にかけているイスラム教徒の人々がたくさんいます！ そして、ハラールマークは安全を認識することに役立ち、成分についても一切心配する必要がありません。
化粧品にもハラールを求める、という考え方をしたことが一度もなかったので日本人の考え方に驚きました。ムスリムの私自身でも考えていなかったことを日本人が考えてくれていたんです！

私は、それをみんなに伝えたいと強く思いました。

私はブランド「ヴィ・クラスニー」のスタッフとして、「ハラール」と「ハラール化粧品」について。そして、日本人が考えた「ハラールマークのおもてなし」について世界中のムスリマに向け精一杯伝えていきたいと思っています。

     Hi, nice to meet you, everyone. I am Eman from Saudi Arabia, and This is my 7th year in Japan. I work at a halal Japanese cosmetic company “Vy Krásný”.

I’ve always loved Japan since I was a kid, and since I came here, I’ve had a lot of culture shocks in a good way of course. I’d like to share these stories with you here. please look forward to it.

     for the first blog, as a Muslim living in Japan, I wanted to talk about Japanese “halal” hospitality, and how it moved me.

     Coming to Japan in 2014 the word “halal” was not known as of now which made living in Japan a little harder for me to adapt.

     As a foreigner with a different lifestyle, it was also hard for me to ask about the ingredients in restaurants, afraid of being rude to the chefs and the people working. The hardest part was paying for breakfast at a hotel and not being able to eat anything from the buffet.

      But, there are a lot of people who would ask and make some changes for us (if there is anything you want to change please let us know!) or (you can’t eat pork right? We can change it to chicken. Do you want to do that?) and such which makes us happy and thankful.

      I was taught by my parents to not push my beliefs on people and accept them to adapt to my lifestyle. In the last 4 years, everything changed, starting with some popular chain restaurants. We started to see the halal mark on the restaurant’s menus and in the normal supermarkets, and that made us respect the Japanese way of thinking, even more, not discriminating against anyone and providing a choice option to everyone.

     I can remember clearly after the Olympics got decided. I started to see the halal mark more often, got asked about how hard finding halal products, and staying in hotels in the last 4 years. they would provide some information or pamphlets about the halal-friendly places around the hotel! It was surprising for me even though I’m used to not find anything halal, for me because I speak Japanese it was less hard on me, but thinking about the big change for the Muslim tourist and how easy it became to spend a holiday in Japan.

    Most Muslim tourists come to Japan not expecting anything halal, and that is not looking down on the knowledge of the Japanese people but respecting the culture and not demanding and pushing our beliefs upon them. Even though it’s hard, there is a lot of Muslim people that will choose to travel to Japan because they love and respect the Japanese culture. So, looking now at how the Japanese culture that we love respecting us and providing us with halal products even though they don’t have to do it, makes me proud that I’ve chosen Japan as a learning stop in my life. 

    Last year, I started to notice some beauty products with the “halal” mark, which raised a lot of questions in my mind. As a middle eastern, I’ve never heard of “halal” skincare products!

And this raised a lot of questions, “is there a non-halal cosmetic?” “Why it’s halal?”

   In 2018 When I was walking in Asakusa with my friends. For the first time, I found Japanese halal skincare with the halal mark! my non-muslim friend asked me “does cosmetic has to have a halal mark ? you can’t use it if it doesn’t have the halal mark”, It was the first time that I started thinking about halal cosmetics.

    What is Halal? Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted as prescribed in the Qur’an. I never looked at cosmetics in this way, I always connect the word halal to food and not to cosmetics. as a Muslim I was amazed by the Japanese way of thinking as I never think of it in this way, I wanted to tell everybody about it.

   Thinking about it now, every ingredient will get absorbed from the skin to the bloodstream! and there are Muslim people all around the world who care about the halal ingredient! And the halal mark would help to feel safe and there is no need to worry about any non-halal ingredients.

    This year from March I started working with Vy Krásný and I started to figure out more things about “halal” , halal certification, the Japanese way of thinking about “halal” and the “hospitality” to everyone aside from religions and ethnicity.
